DRAMATIC ERA.

ENEMY CRACKING UP. Reuter’s Telegrams. (Received August 27, 10.55 a.ra.) LONDON, August 26. Reuter’s correspondent at the British headquarters, writing last evening, says;—We have reached the most dramatic era of the war. Yet, despite our successes, wo ought at the present to temper optimism with caution. Since yesterday morning the enemy has disintegrated over a considerable zone of the Somme battlefield. In some places groups of Germans are wandering about, seeking an opportunity to surrender, and the degree of enemy de-moralisation-in certain places is a* great factor- in the present situation. Yesterdy the enemy cracked up in the neighbourhood of Thiepval Ridge, but we must prepare for his recovery on a strong line of resistance. The battlefield scene was amazing.
