Tno Mayor announced that ho had received u. ioni; letter Ironv Mr Joshua Little suggesting dial the council should spend a very sum of money on an off eel which wan not very olearlv stated. He did not wish to offend an old eitir/n by ignoring tho matter,/ '.til ho was bound to point out that the council had no power to borrow for the purpose that Mr Little hinted at. It was decided to support the New Plymouth Borough . Council’s request for a sitting oi tho municipal conference this year. In moving Iho motion Councillor Howard said that tho question of rating on Government properties was oi' sufficient importance to warrant the resumption of the conferences. The Electricity Committee reported that 43 applications had been received for current during the fortnight and SI connections hacl been made, representing .18,(150 kilowatts for light and 57,100 kilowatts for power. ' On the certificate of the Health Officer it was decided to give notice that a building in Richmond Terraco should bo pulled down”
