LIVERPOOL FUND CONCERT.

There was the, usual large attendance at the Theatre Royal last evening on the occasion of the ninth concert of the series organised by Mrs Burnes-Lough- '} an . 0!1 behalf of the. Lady Liverpool Christmas Parcels Fund. Tho Christchurch Orchestral Society’s orchestra, under tho conductorship, of Mr Alfred Bunz. was the principal contributor to the programme, playing the-overture . Gabnollo” (Rosso) and the “ Coronation March ’’ from Meyerbeer’s “Le Prophet©” in splendid style. Madame Gower-Burns sang the aria “ Hear Ye. Israel,” from “Elijah,” and Tschaikowsky s “ Legende."’ She was in excellent voice and was twice.encored, responding on one occasion onlv, when she sang “ He Shall Feed His* Flock.” from "The Messiah,” Mrs Vero Livingstone’s pianoforte solos, Romance, Op. 28 (Schumann), and Leschetizkv’s Toccata were charmingly played and enthusiastically encored.' , Mr Frank Charles scored with his* songs ‘'-'The Lord is My Light ” (Allitseu) and “The Trumpeter” (Bix). In response to an encore ho sang “Tho Blind Ploughman.” Tho proceeds of the concert amounted to about £3O. bringing the total amount realised nearly up "to the £2OO objective aimed at by Mrs BnrnesLoughnan to provide 800 Christmas parcels for soldiers at the front. The series of concerts will be continued in September in Everybody’s Theatre in aid of the Rod Cross “ Onr Bar ” Fund. ■
