Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court to-day. DRUNKENNESS. A first offender for drunkenness, who appeared on remand, was convicted and discharged. Charles Edward Jones, a second offender, was lined • 10s and costs. THEFT. Anthony Bannister pleaded guilty to a charge of_stoaling one pair of boots, valued at 17s (id, the property of AViL. liam Thomas Lake, bootmaker. A fine of ‘los, in default one month’s imprisonment, was imposed. Frederick Tidyman, who pleaded guilty to a. charge of stealing a vest and tweed coal, valued at £-1, the property of Edwin Swan, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, to lie followed by throe years’ reformative treatment. ALLEGED BREAKING AND ENTERING. Charles Muncey (Mr Kincaid) pleaded not guilty to a charge that, on March 2(5, at Christchurch, he did break and enter the dwelling-house of John Slater and steal £7 in monely, two gold bangles and three tjold rings, to the value of £lB. On the appljca.tinn of Chief-Detective .M’llvency accused was remanded'until the 12th instant. Mr Kincaid applied for bail, hut Chief-Detective MMlvcney opposed the application on the grounds that several other charges of breaking and entering were pending against accused. The Magistrate refused hail. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES.
Costello and Berryman (Mr Thomas) asked for an order against B. Rhodes on a debt of £5 ss. An order was made for payment at the rate of 5s a week, in default five days’ imprisonment. Akhbv, Borgiji and On, Ltd. (Mr Nieholls) proceeded against F. Hill (Mr Hobnn) for a debt of £l6 4s. No order was made.
