THE M'COMBS CASE.
A SOLICITOR'S POINT.
Insists Upon Publicity,
F. D. Kesteven’s Claim Paid,
r Tn the .Magistrate’s Court this morning, at the conclusion of the hearing of judgment summons cases, the case of F. 1). Kesteven v. J. M’Combs, M.P., was mentioned by Mr C. S. Thomas, solicitor for the creditor. The case had been entered in the judgment summons book, but “ not served” was marked against it, Mr Thomas said that he wished to object to the fact that the case had not been mentioned in the ordinary way. Ho did nob see why Mr M’Combs should have special privileges in this respect. Mr Sargent, solicitor for Mr M’Combs, said that the money had been paid, and bo thought that it was improper that the case should be mentioned. He objected to this unwarranted attack on Mr M’Combs merely for the sake of publicity. Mr Thomas again contended that Mr M.’Combs should not ho treated as other than an ordinary person. The money had been paid, hut that was no reason ivhy the ease should not have been called. Tho clerk of the Court explained H-t there wore several other cases ' ,r i similar nature that had not been called. The matter then, dropped.
