ARMY COUNCIL CONSULTED. No Reply to Hand. Sir James Allen (Minister of' Defence) was asked last night to express an opinion as to whether New Zealand’s percentage of reinforcements should ho increased in view of Mr Lloyd go's appeal for more men. Sir James replied that pending Cabinet consideration of the. matter he would not express an opinion, but the Army Council had been cabled to asking whether it was considered that the percentage should bo increased. Pending a reply, he could say nothing. DOMINION’S ASSURANCES. Cordially Welcomed. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 4. The Prime Minister has received the following cablegram from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, through the Governor-General;- . M ith reference to your telegram of March 30. his Majesty’s Government have received with the greatest satisfaction New Zealand’s assurances of support in the present crisis. The staunchness of the Dominion in the common cause, and the gallantry of her soldiers have already been abundantly proved, but we welcome most cordially this fresh evidence of her determination-”
