POLITICAL NOTES,
DR THACKER’S NEW SEAT. The Member for Grey. [From Our Correspondent,] WELLINGTON April 4. Air AVilford’s elevation to Cabinet rank left a vacant seat on the front) Opposition benches. Dr Thacker, who has developed strong Opposition tendencies, evidently intends making his campaign more prominent during the coming short sesson, for ho has appropriated Air AVilford’s old front bench seat by labelling it with his name. It is definitely stated that Mr AVebb will not bo granted leave from tho prison camp to attend Parliament. Ho may resign shortly, for it is certain the House will refuse to give him leave of absence, which would enable him to retain the seat and the honorarium*
