(By CRO fivBLAOK.) The Executive Council of the South Islund Poultry Association will meet this evening. On Monday night the Christchurch i otutry Club will meet, when judges will be elected for the utility poultry and canary sections of the annual show. The Utility Poultry Chib will meet on Tuesday to ballot the pens for the next competition. Ninety-six entries have come to hand for the_ Utility Poultry Club’s coming e 6g‘l a ying competitions at Papanui. Fifty-eight teams of light breeds and sixteen heavy breeds have been entered, which is considerably more than the executive anticipated- Nineteen birds have been nominated for the single bird test, seventeen being White Leghorns, and a representative of the Rhode Island Reds and also one of Silver Wyandotte. The duck contest has, however, only attracted three competitors. The following are the highest totals in the Masterton egg-laying competition to February 7 (dry mash feedins;) : White Leghorns— J. H. W. BECK, of St Albans, will {onward a team of Groon Bros.’ strain, tho stock birds being three-year females and the male two years. Mr Beck keeps fifty fowls as a hobby.

STEPHENSON, who is represented in the present competition, and who keeps about fifty White Leghorns as a hobby, has entered a team of pullets six to six and a half months old, bred from two and four-year-old females and a three-year-old male. •I. ,N A NEAR ROW, who has shown up prominently in ihe* last two competitions with his stock, again enters Whilo Leghorns, six month?, bred from male two years and females two and three years. Mr Nancarrow keeps 500 White Leghorns, Black Orpingtons and Rhodes Island Reds as a partial means of livelihood.

H. BALL, of Timaru, again supports tho competition with a team of White Leghorns, six months, bred from three-year females and a cockvcl. Mr Ball has about one hundred head of poultry, kept as a hobby, and which give him great pleasure. A. H. SKILTON, who keeps some. 300 head of poultry at the Trig Farm, Albany, Auckland, enters a, team at -Bapanui for the first time of WTiito Leghorns, six and a half months, bred from threo-yoar-old stock.

SMART BROS., Mos.giel. intend testing White Leghorns, six months, bred from females two years to five years and males me ami two years. Smart Bros, have been keeping White Leghorns for eight year?, and one of the brothers has been making his living from 450 bird?. W. DAI EY, Wellington, continues his sunport to the club, though ho has had illluck, having lost, 170 pnlleta through a fire. CALDER BROS., who have put up a wonderfully fine average in all the egglaying competitions they have entered "in, hove nominated two teams of White Laghorns, six- months, bred from two arid three-year-old single-pen tested hens and a fifteen month cork.
