Father Lacroix, of Greymouth, has distinguished himself early in his service in France, states the London correspondent of tho "Lyttelton Times,’’ where the commander of the Second Army expresses in array orders appreciation of his gallantry on the occasion of a collision between a French passenger train from Boulogne to St Omor a.nd a freight train. Lieutenant C. B. Hull, of the Armoured Motor Corps, who recently .arrived in New Zealand from Russia, is a son of tho late Mr B-ichard Hull, and left the Dominion with the Alain Body. Ho went all through the Gallipoli caiiipaign, and. was wounded and sent to England. Later he received an appointment at the Codford Camp, and then he joined the motor ,service, in which ho was granted his commission. Ho had considerable difficulty in gating out_ of Russia after trouble commenced in that country. Air A. D. Al’Laron, son of Mr D. B. APLaren, of Christchurch, wining from London on January 4 to his brother, Mr B. R. Al’Lareii, stated that his book, " Germanism from Within,” had been republished in the United States, and this had brought him a request for an article from the editor of the "Atlantic Monthly,” which he legardod as the best review published. Air Al.’Laren also stated that Robert Blatcliford had an appreciative article in the "Sunday Chronicle” on his earlier book, “Peaceful Penetration.” The Rev F. B. Redgrave, vicar of Lincoln, has been appointed vicar of St Andrew's, Port Ahuriri, Napier. Air Redgrave was educated at Nelson, and joined the service of the New Zealand Insurance Company. Ho decided to study for Holy Orders, and in 1905 became a, mcraier of College House, Christchurch, and attended Canterbury College, where he graduated ALA., three years later. Mrs M. Stafford, 294, Papanui Road, has received a letter from the Minister of Defence, Sir James Allen, stating that her husband, Major James Stafford, has been awarded the Distinguished Service Order for services on the field. Major Stafford, who is a. native of England, came to New Zealand six years ago, under engagement to the Government in the capacity of veterinary snreoon. hj captain.'Major Stnfford left with the Main liorly, being attached to the Veterinary Corps. After spending-some time in Egypt, Major Stafford was sent to Gallipoli, and took part in the evacuation.
