POLICE COURT NEWS.
TO-DAY'S CASES. Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S. M.. presided at the Police, Court this morning, when a short list of police charges was dealt with. DRUNKENNESS. Patrick Butler, who made his third appoaranco on a. charge of drunkenness within six months, was fined 20s and warned that on his next appearance ho would bo sent to Roto Roa. A first offender wa-s lined <3s, with the usual alternative. REMANDED. Frank Rowlingston, charged with the theft at Dunedin of a suit case and contents valued at £8 17s, the property of Timothy O'Dwyer, and with the theft of a suit case and contents valued at £lO. the property of Robert Ryan, was remanded, on the application of Detective-Sergeant M'llveuy, to appear at Dunedin on August 24, Accused pleaded guilty to both charges. ASSAULT. Leslie Lindsay Fleming, charged with assaulting Samuel .Tenning Allen at Ohristchnrch yesterday, pleaded guilty. Senior-Sergeant Wohlmann .said that accused twice forced his way into the Whito Hart Hotel after hours yesterday. Ho went there after a female employee, upon ivhom he was having a very bud influence. Ho carried drink to her, and kept her out all night. Yesterday accused was removed irom the hotel, and assaulted Allen, the licensee, while being removed. Accused was convicted and fined £o, in default one month's imprisonment. CIVIL CASKS. Mr T. A. B. Bailey. H.M., presided at the civil silt tings of the -Magistrate's Court tliis morning.
