LOCAL BOOKINGS CEASE. INTERCOLONIAL VESSELS STOPPED. Actual confirmation of the cancellation of intercolonial bookings bad not been received by the Union Steam Ship Company at Ohristchurch early this morning, except for the fact that the sailing of an intercolonial vessel had been cancelled, and the intending passengers notified, in eases where they could be communicated with, that they could not proceed. There is no passibility, of course, of saying when the intercolonial service will be resumed.

Incidentally it may be mentioned that the intercolonial mails from th« South Island are usually oarried to Wellington on the ferry steamer, and not on the intercolonial boat_proper.
