CITY MARKETS.
INQUIRIES ABOUT STATE MEAT, The special committee set up to go into the question of city markets reported last night that it had held one meeting and decided to ascertain from the Government whether meat could l>e obtained for sale in the city under similar conditions to that obtaining in Auckland. The Government had also been requested to furnish prices and quantities available and to state the period during which the meat would be obtainable. Inquiries were also being made from the Auckland City Council regarding the progress made in connection with tho supply of lish direct to consumers. The report was adopted without discussion.
