GRAIN AND PRODUCE. CJHRISTCHUBCH, Auguft 14. There is no change in respect to wheat, oats and chaff quotation?. Wheat is off ths market, oats are firm fl-nd scarce, and chaff pt.ill sells at. prices which have ruled for sorao weeks past. The potato market has sustained little change, but, if anything, that change is tor the better. The general ruling rate is £2 10s a ton, with Cs Bd to ."is a ton advance in the case of Dakota. Reds or IJerwents, of which a few lines have been placed durinsr the week. A few orders are coming forward from the Noith Island, and as there are three steamers due- to load for northern ports during the nest eight days, any fre?h, orders should be possible of fulfilment. Local flour is still selling at £ls per ton, but Australian flour commands .£Ui 10s. The q notations given below are for purchases from farmers, net cash, sacks extra, delivered at country stations, the figures for 1916 being also for the purposes of comparison. Varying; quantities in tbo sales, and near or distant railway loading, have to ho taken into account. In the case of wheaf. the maximum prices are fixed by the Board of Trade, on a, f.o.b. basis.
