The officers of the Essex Regiment aro .authorised to wear a. representation of tho eagle they captured from the French at Salamanca (during the Peninsular War) on their mess-dress buttons and on their full-dress uniform, as well as tho eagle badge on mess-jacket collar and ou the regimental colours.
