NORTH CANTERBURY AND OXFORD JOCKEY CLUB.

A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury and Oxford Joe-key Club was held on Wednesday evening. There were present: Messrs 11. C. Van Ascli (chairman!, \ r . Aiacdonald, A. Howard. G. Cud by, r . A. Kercher, S Ryan, H. Dix, "W. Parsons, R. Henderson, W. Gi.chnst, S. Wotherspoon, F. Hopkins and T. Frame. The secretary (Mr A. J. Tut ton) tendered his resignation, which was accepted with genera] expressions of regret and hearty appreciation of his valuable services to the club. The appointment of a new secretary was left, in the hands of Messrs Van Asch, Parsons and Macdonald, but Mr Tutton promised to retain office until after the coming race meeting, if a, successor could not be. found. The secretary was instructed to write to tho owners of horses being trained on the track that their permits expired on August 1, and new ones would have to be obtained. It, was resolved to make the aggregate amount of stakes for the race meeting £5lO, an increase of XBO. A programme of oight events was adopted, the stakes ranging from £45 to £l2O. Mr H. Reynolds was appointed starter of the trots and Mr H. P. Butler of the gallops. Since the meeting Mr H. A. Archdall was accointad sacrstaiy to tho club.
