NO DEMONSTRATION.

[Per Press Association'.] GREYMOUTH, July 20. The Borough Council at a meeting to-night passed tho following motion: "That tho council request the Minister of Defence to use his power under the* Defence of the Realm Act to prevenjt a public demonstration of welcome or processions in the public streets of this town to persons who havo been convicted of sedition, and.that a copy of tho resolution bo wired to Sir James Allen and Mr Massey in tho morning." Two councillors dissented. Those who supported it spoke strongly against tho attempted impression that the citizens of Grey mouth would welcome Mr Webb. Tho speakers emphatically said it was not a citizens' welcome and that they did not wish any such idea to bo spread throughout tho Dominion.
