the first occasion having been in the ■soinmp battle. He enlisted in Wan. gaum from the Railways, where he was «■* fireman. Ho has another brother at t»e front.

He was highly successful in the athletic side of life, making his mark as a hockey player and bicycle rider. He had boen in Franco since 1915. whore ho was twice wounded. Prior to enlisting lie was farming in the Oxford and Dunsandel districts. His younger brother, who- loft with the Fifth Reinforcements, has sinco been invalided back to New Zealand.
