The appeal was allowed. REMEDY FOR NERVES.

Edward Loft us M. Russell, slaughterman, appealed on the ground of his occupation. He said that he last worked at Islington, the works closing down last Saturday. He left because his nerves went Avrong.

Mr Bishop: You have been passed as Class A, so there is not much wrong with your nerves.

Appellant: 1 have been working hard digging potatoes Mr Bishop: Hard work like that would be good for the nerves. The. appeal will be dismissed, but you will have till September 17 to pull yourself together. " MATXLY ONIONS." John Shariiok (Mr Mai ley) farm hand, Marshland, stated that he was the only son left to help his father on liis farm. Another son had voluntarily enlisted. The farm was of forty acres. Mr Bishop: No wheat is grown there. Mr Malley: No, mainly onions. Mr Bishop: Yes, Marshland is a-groat country for onions, but onions cannot be regarded as essential. The appeal will be dismissed, but Sharliek will bo given till October 16. Cecil 11 uia Shield's appeal met with a similar result. Appellant is a fruit farmer at Papanui AX ONLY SOX. Edwin Hamilton Simc (Mr Grosson), student. Lincoln College, whose brother wa« killed at Gallipoli. appealed on tho ground that he was the only son left to look after his mother, who is a widow. The appeal was adjourned sine die. REFERRED TO EFFICIENCY BOARD. John Robert Moorhead, fa.rm handj Fondalton, appealed on the ground that his services were necessary on his father's farm. The father supported the appeal, and submitted a statement that no ownicd 15G acres of first-class land, 100 acres of which were to be put in wheat, the remainder iu barley, etc.

The appeal was adjourned until a report was received from the Efficiency Board.

Henry Morgan Taylor (Mr plumber, appealed on the ground of being engaged in an essential industry, the appeal being supported by Taylor and Oakley, of which firm appellant is managing director. His brother died of •wounds redeived at G-allipoli. The matter was rofercd to the Efficirency Board to report. FATHER SUCCESSFUL. George Edward Wilkin, plasterer, appealed on tho grounel that ho was married and had five clftldrfcn. Ap>peUant said that ho was in the Second Division, having been married boforo the Military Service Act came into force. After hearng further evidence, Mr Bishop adjourned the appeal sine die. A TEMPORARY REPRIEVE. Albert James Williams, boilerma-ker, Lyttelton, appealed on tbei ground of hardship, lie stated that he had only on'a brothei - , and ho was a returned soldier, now in hospital. Appellant was tho main support of his aged parents, his father having been ill for several years. The appeal was dismissed, but Williams is not) to bo called up until thei First Division is exhausted. MISCELLANEOUS. Tlno appeal of Harold Piaymond Young, ship's officer, s.s. Ka.ha.ka, was adjourned, tho appellant not appearing. Eden William Smith, accountant, appealed on the ground of ill-health. His two brothers wore on active service, and he was the chief support of his widowtd mother. Having been classed as 82, Smith was ordered to como up again in September next, after his re-examination by the M.edical Board. Tho next sittings of the board will be to-morrow morning, at Cliristchurch, on Monday and Tuesday next at Timaru, on thia following Monday at Christchurch, and on tho next day at Ashburton.
