NORMAL DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.

A HAPPY REUNION. At the Y.M.C.A. last Friday evening the past and present pupils of the Normal District High School held their annual reunion. There was a large attendance, including Mr C. T. Asch-man-(president of the Old Pupils' Association). Mr J. Wyn-Irwin and Miss Williams (vice-presidents). The principal reason of the reunion' was to present Mr Sharpe, who is shortly going on active service, with a wristlet watch, in remembrance of th? Mr Wyn-Irwin said that Mr Sharpe had one outstanding characteristic, and that was his good nature. As an athlete he was one of the best tennis players tho school had known. Before making the presentation Mr Aschman said that Mr Sharpe had seen his duty and had faced it. That was the finest thing that could ho said about anyone, and on behalf of those present he wished him God-speed and a !afe return. Mr Townsend. on behalf of the old pupils, and Mr Mundy, for the present pupils, also spoke.

A. bat presented by Mr GullivcrCradwick for the highest average during the cricket season was won b\| Mr Harry Crook, and a. volume given by Mr J. Wyn-Trwin was won by Mr Robert Hitchings. Games were indulged in. and during Hie evening niannforto solos wore oonby Miss D. Shelton (who playrd the test piece for the Bristol scholarship which she won at the recent competitions) and Miss Mona Tomlinson. Songs were sung by Misses L. Cald;vett," Rachel Osborne and Ida. Wilbraham. Humorous recitations were given '.■)y Miss Ruby A. Wilding, and a mandoline and guitar duet by Misses E. Heid and E. Ayling.
