AVIATION.

THE CANTERBURY SCHOOL. SUCCESSFUL FLTGHT WITH NEW MACHINE. A ftoecossfu] flight with a now 45 liorse-powoi' Caudron machine was made at the Canterbury Aviation Company's grounds at Sockbnrn on .Saturday. Mr C. M. liill, the instructor, took the machine out, and went. torn, heighii of about 1000 feet. He stater! to-day that he, was more tha.ll satisfied with the results of the trial. 'Hie machine, he said, possessed excellent flying qualities. It had a. very good gliding angle and a, good range of .speed, going readily at a .slow pace or a- rapid one. The latter consideration added largely io the value of the machine from an instruction point of view, been use it facilitated the work of handling. The whole of the machine, except the engine nnd the propeller, w;is made by the pupils in the company's workshops on the grounds. The pnpiK in this way, were afforded opportunities for doing practical work in the construction department. The engine, is the onethat Mr Scoilaiid used in his fiighti from Timarn to Christ church a few years ago.
