Constable (*. M. Dimnctt, Court orderly at Christchun hj, who has been promoted to the charge of l!ie Dariield police district, where lie will also be clerk of the Court was met this morning by the staff of the Magistrate's Court and presented with a copy of Cruickshank's "Magistrate's Court Act.'/ -Air T. A. H. Bailey, S.M., in making the presentation, referred to the popularity of Constable DunneU,, and his marked ability in the performance of his duties. Mr W. A. 1). Banks, clerk of the Court, congratulated Constable Dunnett, on. his promotion, and wished him success in his new post.
Mr W. Tinsley, eldest son of the late Kov W. Tinsley, wh.o left New Zealand several years ago to accept a position in the British-India Shipping Company, is now in the United States. After serving the E.I. Company for some time, Mr Tinsley accepted a position with Messrs Lane and Macandrcw, shipowners, London, and was eventually appointed by them as their chief engineer. Word has now come to hand that Mr Tinsley has been lent by his employers as superintendent engineer in connection with the construction of machinery for vessels which the. Admiralty are building for the oil-carrying trade. .Air Tinsley served his apprenticeship at the Government Workshops, Addington, under Mr A. W. Smith.
