PEACE TALK.
APPEAL BY THE POPE. ON THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF THE "WAIt. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. (Received July 23, 1.0 a.m.) NEW YORK. July 22. The ''Sun's" Pome correspondent says that it is apparently certain that the Pope will appeal for peace on the third anniversary of the war next month. There is good reason to believe that instead of a general exhortation to all the warring nations, the Pope will aim at mediation by two nations nor, technically engaged in war with each oilier, as an initial step towards negotiation with the belligerents.
Such a suggestion, it is considered, clearly alludes to the. United States and Austria.
Reports are reaching the Vatican that the Turkish Premier is expected to resign and make wav for a national Cabinet of Liberals favouring peace.
