| SCHOOL COMMITTEES' POSITION'. j Mr A. Peverill, president! of the Ca.ntetrbury School Ceramic.tees' Association,. expresses satisfaction with the I result of yesterday's deputation to | Ministers in "Wellington, wlien an urgent request was made tor an increase in the incidental allowances to school committees'. Mr Peverill stated to-day that although the deputation did not achieve any definite object, conversations with ! members of Parliament showed that they were quite in sympathy with the I association's request. They said that they would see that the-committees ieceived ut les-sti sufficient to live upon, and they promised that the position would be brought, under the notice of the House this cession, with the object of having things rectified. Mr Peverill added that the deputation was thoroughly representative of j the *vLo!e Dominion, and that, if Par- ( liament failed the committees, meetings of householders would be held in all parts of the country to voice the committees' grievances. From the tone of members' remarks, however, he did not think that that step would be necessary.
