U The fir;.t programme offered by the r uller iviuiiCigomerrfc tit His Majesty's, which has succeeded the Opera House as tho home of vaudeville in Christwas headed this afternoon by the Walter Johnson Revue Coiflpanv, wnieh appeared in "A Railway I angle, ' ; -j production with enough of a story to afford opportunities for much excellent fooling, a, lot of bright singing and some lively da.nciiig. The. chorus is rather stronger, both numerically and in ability than is usual w;th productions of this order, and throughout tho breezy comedy their work plays a large part in the success attained. The company is strong in comedians. Harry Burgess, Jock Kea.rns, Gus Franks and Ernest Lashbrook Etipplying much humour along broad lines, both individually and in concert. Miss V era Kearns was charming as Peggy Pryde and her song, "Ladder of Roses,' : was one of the hits cf the afternoon, with its ladders amidst festoons of lights and roses. Oh, You Beautiful Baby. - ' sung by Miss Lydia Carne, and the chorus was a novelty, and "Hello, Frisco-" was another good number of hers. Miss Lola. Hunt has a good presence, ynd a breezy manner sbout her. Her best number was " Old Bill Bailey Plays His I kalele." The production concludes with a Scotch finale, in which the burlesque element is given full pls-.v. In the first part of the programme 'Jhe Togos appeared. This afternoon, owing to a slight mishap the slide " from the dress circle could not be done, but enough ™a<; done by the senior partner to establish his claim to be numbered amongst the neatest and best jugglers seen here. ■ His assistant, in a quiet manner, lend? considerable aid with some comedy, which is never forced and never obstrusivo. The Togos supply a really excellent turn. Tini and Gertie Moore provide a comedy patter and song item which is quick and effective, and this afternoon, m the absence of Signor and Signora Molinari, who will appear this evening, Jock Kearny and Vera Kearns appeared successfully. The same artistes, with the addition of the Molinaris, will appear tins evening
