Mr J. Oraigie. M.P., was a passenger for Timaru by to-day's express. Mr Hugo Friedlander arrived from Wellington to-day. Mr J. A. Watts Las been nominated for the seat on tbo Spreydon Borough Council vacated" by Mr W. J. Elliott. . The Hons D. JBuddo and R. H. Rhodes, Messrs G. Witty, W. J. Dickie, C. E. Statham, J. Craigie and J. M. Dickson, mombers of the House of Representatives, arrived from Wellington this morning. Mr A. Peverill, president- of the Canterbury School Committees' Association, and Mr C. S. Thompson, the secretary, who attended a deputation to Ministers in Wellington yesterday, returned to Cbristchurch this morning. Mrs A. Stratford, 23 Suffolk Street, Linuood, has received a telegram from the Base Records Department, Wellington, stating that her son, Private C. E. Stratford, was transferred to the Convalescent Depot, Hornchurch, on June 27. Mr A. Pilkington, Akaroa, has been advised that his .son. Corporal Norman Pilkington, Oth Reinforcements, who recently severely wounded in action in France, has been transferred from the Brockcnhurst General Hospital to the Hornchurch Convalescent Hospital.
