Molteno asked the causes of the sickr.ess and casualties among native carriers in East Africa, which, he stated, reach a monthly average of 10 to 15 per 1000. Mr J. I. Macpherson replied that tho causes were principally malaria, pneumonia, cerebro spinal fever and j dysentry. Fifty-two doctors had been posted in temporary hospitals and ad- j ditional help for South Africa was be- I ing obtained. I
