Europe, therefore, must seek to import sixteen to twenty milium head. Britain produces only HO per cent of the. meat consumed. He (\iseount Haroourt) was no impressed with the seriousness of the position last year that he sought to arrange- a scheme for securing a supply of chilled meat ample for Britain tor several years nftor the war. Ho incptired what progress had since ben made with a view to securing supplies-
Lord Hylton replied that the Covcrnment was alive to the importance of the question, but. was unable to supply details of information in its possession.
