A kit-bag and towel were produced in the House as mute evidence of what Mr Wilford described as the absolutely contemptible treatment of a. private in the Twenty-third Reinforcements, who was discharged from camp as unfit for service, through slipping upon a bayonet and sustaining a serious wound. He was granted £1 per week pension, but when he came io draw £2 ss, pay due to him, lid was deducted for the kitbag, because his name was pencilled on it, lOd for a towel and £1 for the only pair of boots he had in the world. The Minister of Defence promised to make inquiries.
