Private M. .T. Scannoll, ago twenty-nine (killed in notion on .luno 7) and Rifleman C. Scannell, aged twonty-fivo (died of sickness at Durban on May 28. on his rot,urn voyage), were tin?- sixth find seventh sons of .Mr and Mrs D. Scannoll, Lyalldale, St Andrews. They worn horn at Korrvtown and educated at tho Convent, School. They assisted on their father's farm at, St Andrews for a time. For six years prior to Private M.'Seannoll's enlistment lie whs engaged in the Railway Department., the last year being spent in tho Lyttelton booking office, lie took a keen interest in football.
