DEFENCE NOTES.
(By SNIPER.) Tho work of the Tcrrutoria] units during tho week has boon very good. Tho interest taken in tho training by lliosci recently posted from tho Cadets proves that the procedure of work can b'> carried 011 throughout without exception.
The Piifio Club is doing well, and conFTnuos to show interest and desiro for enieioncy.
Tho Senior Cadet parades have been exceptionally good, both in attendance and work, so much so that with tho number oi Cadets on parade there appears to be* but little room for other units parading on those evenings.
It is gratifying to note the number of spectators of late that visit tho drill shed io watch the worlc of those, under training. This not only speaks well for tno lads, but is also an encouragement, and is greatly appreciated by the lads if one can judge by tho remarks made by many of the cadets.
No. 72 Company Senior Cadets, at Riccarton. 011 Tuesday last had a very good attendance. 'Hie only absentees wore three with leave. The evening's work consisted of a lecture on visual training.
A very nice tribute was paid to tho Cadets on Wednesday night after the parade by 0110 of the spectators. Tho gentleman was both surprised and pleased at the work, lie, had seen, and considered it an evening well spent. He was a, retired officer from the Imperial Army, and he considered tho Cadets were worth all that; had been said of lliem. This officer proved himself to l>o late of the Royal West Kent Regiment (JOn gland).
