WAR ANNIVERSARY.
DEMONSTRATIONS NEXT MONTH. The Mayor is in communication with the Prime Minister in regard to demonstrations on Saturday, August 4, the anniversary of the dale on which Great Britain declared war. Mr Mnssey, in reply to a letter from Mr Holland, stated that it was intended to hold similar demonstrations to those held last year. In Christchurch a public; meeting; was held in Cathedral Square at 12.10 p.m., ;• ml addresses were given by prominent citizens. All superintendents of circuits am! home missionaries of the New Zealand Methodist Church have been requested to arrange for special services ot inter* cession on Sunday, August 5. Wbei'9 possible, ministers >«re urged to arrange a meeting for prayer at a. convenient hour on August 4. Seven o'clock a.m. is suggested as a suitable time in many churches.
