Mr Philip Gibbs, writing of the Royal visit to the front, describes the picturesque scene in an old town. In the Grand Place before the Town Hall was a mass of soldiers in hollow square, mostly Australians and New Zealanders. The King walked with Sir Alexiander Godley, commanding tho Anzacs, along the line of trophies captured at fjVlessines. There were nine field guns, two anti-tank guns and many machine fruns, mortars taken, by the New Zeaanders and Irish about Wytschaete. )
