The Spreydon Borough Council wrote agreeing to pay £SO towards the cost ot rebuilding the Colombo Street bridge over the Heathcotc provided the bridge was made the full width of the. street. The. letter was referred to tho Works Committee. The Band of Hope Union wrote asking for a, donation towards the prize fund of the annual contests. On the motion of Councillor Flcshcr the request was declinedThe Lighting Committee reported that in the past, week Spreydon and Brighton had been connected with the citv supply, and the lights turned on. the Waterworks Committee reported that it bad completed an arrangement under which the electricity department would take, over the control of the pumping station at Beckenham, and pump all the water required for tho city's use at a cost, not exceeding: 1 1-1 Od per 1000 gallons, or an estimated saving of at least £1750 per vear. On the certificate of the Health! Officer it was decided to give notice that the following buildings in Southwark Street (3), Tiiam Street (2) and St Asaph Street should be pulled down within twenty-eight days. Councillor Wells gave notice of motion that owing to the high cost of living the council should give immediate, attention to the establishment of municipal markets; also that all council employees engaged in surface worlc should be'provided with overalls
