DANGERS FROM CATS.
In his annual report die Medical Officer for Berwick makes some interesting remarks about the danger of the domestic cat in spreading infection. He states that he has made careful researches into tho bacteria found in the fur, and in almost every case examined bacteria of diphtheria, pneumonia, and scarlet fever could be discovered, as well as germs of other diseases. It is generally believed that cats are a source of the spread of contagious diseases, but it is not so veil known what ample proof there is of the truth of this assumption. Consumption is no less communicable than other cornplaints by means of- cats, and so great care should be observed jn permitting little, children to plav with thorn as pets.
