The Oxford Women's Christian Temperance Union held a meeting m the Coronation Hull on Wednesday te commemorate Frances W{Hard Day. Tho president was in tho chair. \ motion was passed expressing svinpathy with Mrs R. Henderson m the death of her mother. \ letter was received from the' Rev J. Attention was drawn to ho act I at the W0 T U first founded by Mi&s «H----lard'iii 1874, had now reached a membership of t u '°° millions, having Inuches in almost every part of the chiSd world: A hearty vote of thanks was parsed to Mrs Don, and also to Mrs Comyns. _ After the initiation of a new member, ordinary business was resumed. A deputation from tho Oxford Agricultural and Pastoral Association waited on the meeting to discuss matters relating to the show catering. The president explained several small concessions desired by the union The suggestions were Javourabls received bv the members or the deputation, who undertook to bring them hefore the association. The president thanked the Agricultural and Pastoral Association for the willingness shown to meet the union « wishes in minor matters, and expressed the hope that at some not distant date tho boon which the union desires so ear-ne«l-b" may be granted, and the liquor booth banished from the Show Ground It Tn' decided to call a meeting of all those willhi" to help with the refreshment tent for March 3, at 2.30 p.m.. hi the Coronation Hall.
