CHARLES CHAPLIN AT "EVERYBODY'S."
Commencing on Monday next at ' upon, and continuing throughout the week, the first of the Mutual-Chaplin comedies will be screened at Every- : body's Theatre. Unlike the athlete, 'who requires training to reach the top of his form after a rest. Charlie Chaplin returned to the studio following a vacation during, which he had nothing to do but listen to salary offers, and in mod time, completed' a two-reel .comedy which, when screened, showed him to be in the pink of his fun-making conditibn. Using all the available material fir, comedy business a department store boasts, and it is considerable, and addta few of his own deft strokes, sucded in producing a comedy that will ; come up to the expectations of his host of- followers, as high as those expectations are. In this picture Chaplin has «ii opportunity to become " Czar of the -Aisles," in other words he accepts a job -as shopwalker in a department store •The manager attempts to rob the safe, •and there is much ad'o about the bag containing the reams of engraved paper. ■ Just what "The Shopwalker " is all . about does not. make much difference. Its two reels, are. punctuated with laughs of number and quality to suit i the public. Edna Purviance is the most attractive of the-supporting cast. - and the 'others are good. There is a ■ splendid suporting programme, includ- ■ jng ! the latest Triangle-Keystone comedy, entitled "Stolen Magic," featuring Mabel Normand, and it is said to ~ surpass anything yet achieved by the Keystone Company. Anticipating big • crowds the management advise all who 'can to attend the day sessions, or to " ,ciome, early at night, and avoid the [.cjrnsh. Although this is such a highFpriced programme thero is no advance in Lptfces.
