CORRESPONDENT'S STORY. | " Tho Times " Service. (Received July 21, 2.50 p.m.) LONDON. July 20. Mr Stanley "Washbourn, who is visiting the Kovel front, describes the Russians' difficulties. The AustroGermans have scientifically strengthened the natural defensive lines at Sfcokhod intending either to give timo to the-completion of the Kovel fortifications or io check tin; Russians' advance "while Kovel was smoothly evacuated. Ho points out that the Germans in. their dilemma do not know wheu to expect the next Russian Mow, because Russians are hitting hero, there and everywhere, but the Germans are clever fencers and never fought more desperately. It was «a mistake to imagine that the Germans were on the verge of a collapse, although the shorT-apro of food at homo was causing their troops uneasiness and anxiety and was affecting their morale. The Austro-German losses for ten days here were seventy-five to a lmnj dred thousand.
