iIORIH AND SOUTH OF SOMfflE The High Commissioner reports: — LONDON, July 20. On Loth sides of the Sornmo tho French infantry this morning attacked German positions, realising marked advantages. Northwards of the Sommo we took enemy trenches from Mamelou and Hardecourt to the river, carrying iho French line eastwards of Hardecourt along tho Comblcs-Clcry railway. In that pari; of tho battlefield we took nearly -400 prisoners. South of tho Somme, between Barleux and Soyecourt, all tho enemy first line trenches were taken. In Champagne the French penetrated u trench north-east of Auberive, bringing back prisoner*. Iu the Argonno tho Germans attempted a coup-de-main on our t.mall posts at tho Boland salient, and after lively grenade lighting the eneniv ay ere icpulsed.
