The head teacher's report showed a roll number •of 101 and an M'erage attendance ox 90. A motion of condolenco was passed with Mr and Mrs Stewart in their recent bsreavc,raont. A Jeuer from the Sumner Borough Council stated '-hat it. was intended to erect danger signals to motorists at tho places suggested by tho committee. H- Tinner (chairman), W. H Beanland, F. Sunns, J. F. Scott, J. E. Sclmeider, J. Triet, J. Pvcroft, J. Sf. John son and J T. M'Harg. The head master repotted a slight faiiing-off in tho attendance for the mcnth of June, owing principally to tho wet weather. Tho roll at present r.tood at 373, being 11)3 boys and 18C g-rlo. The sum of .610 had been raised by tho teachers and pupils in 'the school ior tho funds on behalf of tho Belgian childien. The Works' Committee was authorised to increaso the accommodation in the bicycle fhelt-er to provide for another twelve b.cycles. It was resolved that a letter should be cent to the Heathcoto County Council drawing attention to tho danger to school children sine© the alterr.tioua rto the Opawa traffic bridge had been effected, the wire netting protection not having been placed at each aide of the bridge as formerly. UPPER RICCARTON. Tho Upper R.ccarton School Committee met. on Monday night; prosent—Messrs Forsyth ''chairman), Ra.wvcr; Chainey, Bucbmil, Long-, Clarke, O'Lough'an, Ellis and Johansen. The hc-ad \issier's report showed the average attendance to be 212 and the roll call 237. Correspondence was received from the Education Board regarding tho Bolgian Children's Fund. The mut.er was left in <the hands of the head master, the committee to assist him in any way possible. Mr Chainey reported that the Scc'cburn children atte.iuung the 'West Christchurch District High School wcro now getting frco raihvr.y ticketn.
