General Smuts, in a dispatch on A]/ril 30, details the operations in German East Africa. The German forces are estimated at 16.000, of ■whom 2000 are white men with sixty guns and eighty machine guns. There are organised companies of from 150 to 200 men with 10 per cent of whites and ail average of two machine guns per company. General Smuts eulogise.: General Tithe's work preparatory to the general offensive.
