RIVAL FOOTBALL.
LEAGUE TEAM SEEKS A GROUND QUESTION OF PLAYING AGE. A deputation from .the Sydenham Rugby Football League, headed by Mr W. Movie, waited on the City Council last night to ask for a playing ground at Sydenham Park. Mr Moyltf said that negotiations had been opened for a ground at Sydenham Park previously held by a Rugby Union club, and as tho union club could not at that, time raise a team it was thought a good opportunity to secure the ground for the league team, which was as strong as tho union team, if not stronger. Mr W. Brunsden said that the union ha<L two grounds, and tho league was entitled to one. Councillor A. S. Taylor: What rules aro you following regarding the age of plavers? .1 Mr Moyle: We are only playing Juniors. Councillor 11. J. Otley: Men or boysr "What age? Mr Moyle: There is no restriction on age. Councillor Otley: What is your club composed of, boys or men? 'Mr Movie: Chiefly boys, that play in tho matches. Mr Movie added that his club had. forty members at the front. \ The Mayor said that tho difficulty was that the grounds had been let to the union. Councillor F. Burgoyne, in moving that the request should be referred to the Reserves Committee, urged that the league team should be given a ground. Tho motion was carried.
