CITY BEAUTIYYING.
IMPROVEMENT OF CATHEDRAL SQUARE.' Tlie Mayor announced at the meeting of the City Council last night 'that tho Beautifying A&sociation some time ago had offered first, second and third prizes of £25, £ls and £5, and a special prize of £5 for competitive designs for the tram shelter and Cathedral Square generally. Mr S. H. Seager had made his award, and the plans were on view at the Art Gallery. The Beautifying Association wrote stating that the plans for the improvement of Cathedral Square had been received. The council -was asked, to appoint up to six representatives to attend 'a conference of delegates .from the lYamway Board and tho Beautifying Association, to be held in the Art Gallery, on June 12, at 8 p.m. The Mayor and chairmen of committees were appointed as delegates.
