PERSONAL.
The Hon J. MacGregor, M.L.C., arrived from the north to-day. Messrs E. Clifton, H. J. "Wynne and R. O. Duncan arrived from the north to-day. Mr C. A. Piper, traffic department of the New Zealand railways, arrived from Wellington this morning. Mr J. E. Henrys arrived from the south last ovening, and left for the north by tho ferry steamer. Dr Thacker, M.P.. has reewved a telegram from Sir Joseph "Ward stating that he has recovered from his bad cold and is out and about again. The Rev It. S. Gray, president of tho New Zealand Alliance, arrived in Christchurch last night, and left for Wellington to attend the annual meeting of the organisation there to-day. Captain A. R. Post and Mr A. Macpheraon, of the New Zealand Government Transport Hoard, arrived from Wellington to-day, and left later for the south. ' Mr W. J. Hillier, after fifteen yearv service as manager of Messrs Reid and Gray's Ashhurton branch, mil sever his connection with that firm on Saturday next. Mr E. Reid, of the Dunedin branch, will succeed Mr Hillier at Ashburton. Major 11. F. Davis, V.D., of Wellington, has been advised by cable that his son. Captain John B. Davb, is in a military hospital, suffering v vrrom a wound'through the ankle and a grazed shoulder. He was wounded while lighting in France, and is progressing favourably. i Miss Adela Panklmrst, representative of the Women's Political Association of Australia, arrived in C'hristchureh this morning. She will spend the whole of this week in the city, and will leave for Dunedin on Monday. Visitors to Christchurch to-day include:—Messrs M. 11. Morton, J. R.
