WAIMAKARIRI HARBOUR BOARD
The Waimakariri Harbour Board met / last evening; present—Messrs WDoubleday (chairman), B. Lissaman* J. Wright, K. M J lntosh, L. Edmonds, L. B. Evans and J. W. Barnard. .> The harbour-master reported an average depth of eight feet of water at the bar for May. There had been very fair tides. A big fresh occurred on May 29, giving a better run-down. The water being dirty had silted the channel below Kairaki. On June 2 the bars shifted a chain to the south, involving the shifting of the beacons. Since that date sounding had been impossible, towing to the heavy seas Several residents of Raven Street . --. j ? quested the board to remove , willow f trees on the river bank, to enible the a , sun to shine through to their premises. s The matter was referred to the com- \ mittee.
