Mr George "Witty, member for 1110carton. celebrated' his sixtieth birthday vesterdnv. Mr Witty arrived in the Dominion in J.STo, and has represented lliccarton in Parliament since' 1902. ITr F. W. Thompson, of (liristohuroh, who retired from "the profession of dentist TV some time ago, lias decided to tako tho place of -"> Taurangi denmt who has gone to tho front, and wnl leave for tho north to-night. "Mr E. H. Hughes, of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company, is again seriously ill. He has been removed to a nursing home, he -rill probablv undergo an operation in the course of a day or' two.
