Of the dresses:— MISTRESS OF TJ 1.10 ROBES. Miss Menzies, as Mistress of the Robes weiii'S a handsome gown of black 'velvet, with a court tram of emerald green, made to the con cut

length of four yards. It has the corner folded over with an embroidered design in green and gold, and is completed with a soft frill of emerald ninon.

The dress is the picture effect, and suggests " Mary Queen of Scots," with its" soft, full,, flowing skirt to the floor. The bodice is draun over the figure to each side, and has a square open cut in front, and high to the neck at the back, with high collar. The long sleeves are full at- the wrists, which are faced with green and finished with a dainty white frill over the- hand, and point lace falling but from the square at tho neck. This beautiful gown was made by Miss M'Lerman, of Messrs Ballantyne and Co. QUEEN - OF INDUSTRIES.

One of the lorelist gowns is that of Mrs Walter Hill, the Industries Queen. The foundation is composed of white satin, and is made with, classic hues, which is most becoming. It is adorned with very beautiful shadow laco, and handsome jewelled embroidery. Tho overdress is composed of white net, embroidered with gold spangles. The court train is made of couche royal blue velvet, finished with artistic sprays of roses made of golden tissue. The head-dress of three white feathers, finished with tulle, is set off with a handsome diamond ornament, and diamonds are also worn on the shoes. The whole effect is most Harming, and reflects great credit on Miss Jsobcl Nicholls, who was the costiunh-re. MISS CLIFFORD'S DRESS. Mi«s Clifford, the Wholesale and Retail Queen, will wear a gorgeous creation with a white satin foundation. There is an overdress of cob-webhy lace on which white rose* are embroidered. This is revealed through a draping of shimmering geld tissue on which ivy leaves in "china blue silks have been hand worked. The whole effect is exquisite. The court tram is made ot handsome brocaded velvet lined with old "old satin and trimmed with sott white ostrich breast feathers This creation was also the work of Miss Isobel Nicholls. PUBLIC SERVICES QUEEN. Mrs .T. C. Palmer, the Public Services Queen, will wear the daintiest of earlv Victorian gowns expresnd in dewdrop tulle of glistening Avlute. Hie skirt is made with a set of wired fleunros. and the bodice is made a crossover effect. Her court train is made of emerald green satin lined with ambercoloured satin, finished with a niching of green ninon and lovely sprays of old gold roses.. This gown was also made by Miss Isobel Nicholls. MRS DEANS'S DRESS. Mrs J. Deans. West and Suburbs Queen, wore a lovely creation of ivory brocaded mousielino, finished with diamonds and irridescent beading. which has a fine stage effect. The bodice, which is smartly nit on plain ' lines is draped with ivory ninon. and it 1 has'a plain full skirt. Her court train is of white brocaded velvet, lined with white ,silk, and finished with a border of black roses and bows of tulle. The whole effect is strikingly handsome. The creation was . the work of Messrs Ballantyne and Co.

ASHLEY COUNTY. Miss O'Hallorau. the Ashley County Queen,."will wear an attractive gown oi ivory cashmere, de sole adorned with irridescent trimmings. Her court train is made of white brocaded satin, lined with emerald green satin and bordered with emeral green ninon ruchings. MRS STEAD'S DRESS. Mrs G. G. Stead, the Professions and Commerce Queen, will wear an elegant creation, with the foundation of white sal in and an overdress of exquisite Houiton, lace. . The court train is composed of a rich shade of red velvet, lined with ivory satin, finished with a ruchinr- of ivory ninon on the outer edge.
