■ A TRIUMPHAL ENTRY. HUGE MOTOR- PROCESSION. The spirit of the day was manifest in the streets as the afternoon opened. Spectacularly tho situation was saved bv tho forma* entry into the city of Miss Rutherford, the Queen of the Hills. who had a most impressive retinue oi motorists. Jf it had not been for this preliminary pageant the afternoon might have been dull, but tho event drew thousands into tho streets, and the rain holding off. the day was quite pleasant. At two o'clock the motor-cars commenced to assemble at Cranmer Square in all stages of decoration. At theballot, for colours the Queen of the Hills had drawn the familair yellow, vvl and black oi" Belgium, and Ibo<e were th" only colours visible on Ihe procession. There wwc\ over sixty cars at the post and they moved off a little before three o'clock. The leading car, in. which the Queen sat. was very lavishly decorated with the candidate's colours, but almost every smerooiliug <'ar was similarly decorated. A guard of honour of relumed mounted soldiers rode alongside the Queen, the procession being headed by a band. There w; : u'e some very cleverly decorated cars, one of thorn flying the.
