Tn the Domain Handicap at the Forbury Park Trotting Club's meeting El Carbine, who is handicapped at osec behind scratch, was omitted from the handicaps. Following on the hustle of the autumn meeting, a change has como over

the seene'lnt Ricearton. Many of the trainers "luid already forsaken tin? early hours, and before tilts meeting most of Die training work whs dono after breakfast. Willi the light prowing gradually worse, if. i.s probable that the ill revert, now to winter conditions, working (heir hordes alter the breakfast interval. Tito visiting horses who _ raced at the. Canterbury Jockey Club's mooting this week have all left for their homos. T. Quinlivan was the first to go, taking Fligiblo and JMaekall north on Thursday night, so that lie lost no time, as both horses were racing that afternoon. G. Price left, on Friday with Revalenter, Sedd-el Ua.hr, Nystad, Cease Fire and Sesulown, while Kilboy and Mr T. ]I. Lowiy'.s team, consisting of Balboa, Tele-a-totc and Fgypt, went north the same night. Some of the .southern horses experienced a difficulty in getting away, owing to shortage of railway accommodation, and the last of them were only accommodated on the mid-day express to-day. Though there are still several meeting.', to engage attention, the. autumn fixture of the Canterbury Jockey Club brought the season to a close so far as Jio two-year-olds and many of the best of the old horses are concerned. They will now have an easy time for a 'ow weeks, before resuming work in ,'iew of spring engagements. Resemblance (M. M'Seveney), Conn he Shaughraun (I). M'Kay), and Sartosta (P., Wormald) were given a turn iver four hurdles this morning. Resemblance ran about a bit at the ob-j itacles but. on tha whole, it was an interesting bit of schooling. Sir Georgo Clifford has sold the two-' year-old colt, Whipcord, by San Francisco—Whiplash, and he will go into J. A. White's stable at Wingatui. ! The five-year-old mare, Fender, bv Martin—Fireside, broke down so badly at Ricearton this week that she is not likely to race again. She has been left at Ricearton, and will probably 1 be mated with San Francisco in the spring. Gold Pin broke down in the Peerswick Hurdle Handicap at Ricearton on Thursday. The trouble is in one of his joints, and it is of so serious a character that the Terrapin gelding will have to be permanently retired from the turf. Gold Pin was a useful hurdler, and later distinguished himself over fences. He was a great; jumper, who bad an exceptional, record, and he never fell in his lite, either m a. race'or when schooling. ! ■ The two-year-old colt Kilbrogan. by Kilbronev—Showano. accompanied Kilboy south when he came from Ponrua for the Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting. He i.s still at Ricearton, m M. Hobbs"'s stable, but will be 'sent on to Mr J. B. Reid's place, near Oamam, next week, in order to have a spell. When under Hobbs's care in the spring Kilbrogan showed a great turn of speed, though he has done nothing in public yet. He has shown signs of unsoundness lately, but it is hoped that a ; rest will do him good.' M. Hobbs is making arrangements to leave for Australia on May 18. In addition to his own horses. Corrie, Peg, Deltonio and Down, he will take Reval with him. The horses will go first to Melbourne, where they will be raced at the winter meetings, and they may afterwards be taken on to Sydney. Reval and Down will compete on tne flat, while the other three' will be given a chance to earn distinction over obstacles. Corrie has already proved herself a capable hurdler, who should be at homo over the long journeys so popular in Victoria. Peg and Deltonio are still- only novices, but they show considerable promise. They have done a- little jumping at home, over a hurdle placed close to a fence, but they were j out f'his morning at Riccartou for their first school over open hurdles, being given a couple of turns over the pony obstacles. Deltonio, ridden by R. M'Seveney, was sent out alone and .shaped very satisfactorily. His display was by no means perfect, as he hit » ample of the hurdles hard, but ho got out of trouble cleverly. Later M'Seveney rode Peg, being accompanied by Corrie, whose pilot, D. Anderson, was making his first appearance on a. jumper. Peg got rather close into two of the obstacles, but recovered herself I well. With more schooling Peg and I Deltonio should both make useful hurdlers, capable of paying their way round Melbourne, where there' will he plenty of chances to race them during' the next few months, without having to meet the champions. R. M'Seveney will accompany Hobbs to Australia, and will do the riding on the trip.
