TURAKINA ARRIVES
WITH 84 INVALIDED SOLDIERS. [Feu Press Association.] AUCKLAND, April 10. The Tiirakiua arrived at (Lot) this morning with eighty-four invalided soldiers, in charge of Captain Conway, of Reefton. There are no cot cases. A number of the men are limping and using .sticks, but all are in a fair way to recovery. REMARKABLE CASE. One of tho most remarkable cases on the Turakina is that of Lance-Cor-poral Kennedy, of Dunc.din. A bullet (shattered his temple and traversed the length of the head, the remains being lodged in the base of the skull. Ho was unconscious for two weeks and had the personal attention of Sir Victor Horsley, the eminent surgeon, who described it- as one of the most remarkable leases that had come under his notice. Kennedy suffers from occasional headaches, but otherwise there- arc apparently no ill effects. Captain Conway brings beautiful silk Union Jacks and a silver shield, presented to the New Zealiindors who participated in the Gallipoli fighting, hearing tho inscription, " To tho New Zealand heroes of Gallipoli, from the women of England." It was presented at the Paddington Station by Lady Smith-Dor ion: The returned invalids were publicly, welcomed this morning bv the Alavor (Mr J. H. Gunson) and Mio Hon A. M. Myers, Minister of Munitions.
