DRINK RESTRICTIONS

IN LONDON AREA. Tile new order of the Central Control Board for the sale of,drink in the London area came into force lately, the order applying to clubs as well as to licensed premises. The order permits the opening of publichousos from five in the morning until the present closing hour for the sale of food and nonintoxicants, bub intoxicants may not be sold for consumption on the premises rxcejit between 12 noon and 2.30 p.m., and between 0.30 and 9.30 p.m. on week days, and on Sundays between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and between G p.m. and 9 p.m. The only modification of this is a concession granted by the Control Board, which amends the order so as to allow licensed premises in specified dock «ud wharf areas to sell intoxicants from 5 to 7 a.m.. subject to certain condition*,. The sale of intoxicants other than spirits for consumption oft' the premises is restricted to the above hours in the middle of the dav and to the hours between 8.30 and Dfi.rM'ord district the evening hours are modified to from 6 to !.) and 15 to 8 respectively. Spirits for consumption oil the premise* may not be sold across the counter on Saturdays or Sundays, and only between noon and 2.30 on the other- days of the week, and subject to various restrictions, hi toxicants mast be paid for on the spot.
